Wanted: Cool Companies, Technologies to Present At MichBio Expo
MichBio, the state's life sciences industry association, is seeking the best life sciences companies and technologies to present at the annual MichBio Expo. This year's event will be held Nov. 2 and 3 at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids.
MichBio Expo is the largest annual gathering of biosciences professionals in Michigan and the best opportunity in the state to develop collaborative relationships through high-value networking; learn about trends, advances and best practices from industry leaders; discover new technologies and promising young companies, what the legislative landscape looks like, and what trends are influencing decision makers; explore a wide array of bioscience-focused products and services in the Exhibit Hall; and sample some of the exciting bioactivity taking place in Grand Rapids during facility tours.
The event's keynote speaker are Kim Popovits, president and CEO of Genomic Health.
"She is an industry thought leader on personalized medicine, and Genomic Health is a game-changing innovator in the field, with special emphasis on oncology," said MichBio president and CEO Stephen Rapundalo. "Personalized treatment of patients through predictive molecular diagnostics is here now, and Kim and Genomic Health are at the forefront of this healthcare revolution."
The Expo will also feature the Fifth Annual Emerging Biosciences Showcase on Nov. 2 and the Third Annual Innovation Poster Session on Nov. 3.
The emerging biosciences showcase, Nov. 2 from 1 to 5 p.m., offers the chance to introduce your emerging bioscience company to an audience of venture capital and angel investors. This fast-paced program will feature 10 "emerging" companies, those evolving out of technology transfer offices or otherwise formed and taking their first steps along the commercialization pathway, and seed or early-stage companies, those conducting proof-of-concept research or are further along in executing their business and product development plans. Presenting companies will then have the opportunity for further exposure and one-on-one conversations at tabletop displays during the Expo Opening Reception in the Exhibit Hall.
To present your company, visit www.michbio.org/expo, and download, fill out and email the Showcase Application Form to heather@michbio.org by Sept. 19. Company notifications will be made by Sept. 26. For more information call (734) 527-9150.
The Innovations Poster Session, Nov. 3 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., showcases the most promising technologies and discoveries coming out of labs at Michigan universities and research institutions. Areas of focus can be pharmaceuticals, medical devices, equipment, diagnostics, informatics, bio-based technologies, industrial biotech and clinical research.
To present your company, visit www.michbio.org/expo, fill out and email the Poster Session Application with a one-page abstract of your poster topic to jayne@michbio.org by Sept. 19. Abstracts will be peer reviewed, and applicants will be notified of their acceptance by Sept. 26.
Opportunities also exist for the exhibit hall, where the opening recession, breaks and lunches are held. There's even a session Nov. 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. on "Get the Most Out of Your Expo Booth," an interactive session on how to avoid the most common mistakes companies make at trade shows followed by exhibitor networking.
