VP Joe Biden To Visit Detroit Saturday
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Vice President Joe Biden is headlining a fundraiser for Michigan Democrats this weekend.
Biden will speak Saturday night at the annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner in Detroit's Cobo Center. Michigan could play a big role in the 2016 presidential election, and Biden has not ruled out a run.
He is traveling to South Carolina in May for another Jefferson-Jackson dinner. The galas are frequent stops for candidates.
Others expected to address Democrats on Saturday are U.S. Sens. Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow, along with state lawmakers.
Past speakers at the Michigan dinner include former presidential contenders John Edwards and John Kerry.
The weekend stop be the first visit by a top White House official since December, when President Obama visited Daimler's Detroit Diesel plant. Biden last visited Detroit for a Labor Day celebration last year.
