Verizon Fires Up Cell Sites In Roscommon County
Verizon Wireless has activated two new cell sites in Roscommon County that improve voice and data coverage in portions of the county, including the area around Houghton Lake.
Also improved should be reception along and around the following major roads:
* US-127 from County Road 104 (Pine Road), south to about four
miles north of the Clare County line
* M-18 from Prudenville, south to near the Clare-Gladwin county line
* County Road F-97 (Maple Valley Road) from M-55, south to just north of the West Twin Lakes area
* The north shoreline of Houghton Lake to Flint Road;
* M-55 west of Houghton Lake to North Star City Road.
The new cell sites are both equipped with a permanent backup generator for times of emergency.
Verizon's ongoing network investment in Michigan now totals more than
$1.5 billion. Nationally, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $60 billion since it was formed -- $5.7 billion on average every year -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its nationwide network and to add new services.
In Michigan, Verizon Wireless has more than 2,100 employees and 65 company-owned retail locations in more than 50 cities, including Allen Park, Alpena, Alpine Township, Ann Arbor, Auburn Hills, Battle Creek, Bay City, Brighton, Burton, Canton, Clinton Township, Dearborn, Detroit, East Lansing, Escanaba, Farmington Hills, Fenton, Flint, Fort Gratiot, Gaylord, Grand Rapids, Grandville, Highland Park, Holland, Houghton, Iron Mountain, Jackson, Kentwood, Lake Orion, Lansing, Livonia, Marquette, Midland, Monroe, Muskegon, Northville, Novi, Okemos, Petoskey, Pontiac, Portage, Rochester Hills, Royal Oak, Saginaw, St. Clair Shores, St. Joseph, Southfield, Taylor, Traverse City, Troy, Utica, Warren and Westland.
