Valenti and Foster: Who Should Replace Burleson For The Lions?
Coming off of a gritty road win in Washington this weekend, things were looking up for the Lions on Monday. In an act of what some would call "Lions Luck", team lost wide receiver Nate Burleson indefinitely to a broken arm sustained in a car accident on Monday night.
Names such as free agents Randy Moss, Braylon Edwards, Chad Johnson, and Brown's wide out Josh Gordon have been tossed around as possibilities to fill the Lions second receiver slot. 97.1 The Ticket's Valenti and Foster think that a solution needs to be found, and fast.
"I'm not willing to give up a third round pick to get a guy that might not be here next year," Foster said on his radio show Tuesday. "You need a player to fill in for this year. I think Randy Moss could still be productive."
Others believe that the Lions should find an internal solution for the loss of Burleson, using running back Reggie Bush as a slot receiver and moving second-year receiver Ryan Broyles to the number two spot.
"You would have to put Broyles somewhere that he doesn't really belong," Mike Valenti said. "He's coming off of an injury and he would be playing out of position. He belongs in the slot."
Who do you believe should fill in for Burleson? Should the Lions use players within the organization or look elsewhere for a replacement?
