Valenti And Foster: One-On-One With Matthew Stafford
DETROIT (97.1 THE TICKET) – Mike Valenti and Terry Foster went head-to-head with Detroit Lions starting quarterback Matthew Stafford on 97.1 The Ticket Monday.
The Lions beat the Philadelphia Eagles in overtime 26-23 on Sunday. Detroit rallied in the fourth quarter to score 17 points to tie the game and send it into overtime.
Jason Hanson provided the game winning field goal for the Lions.
Valenti and Foster asked Stafford about momentum in the first three quarters during the Sunday game - where the Lions just seemed to lack any drive or direction.
"Our intensity and aggressiveness is there in the first quarters," said Stafford. " In a couple of plays here and there, we hadn't put it together but we can't apologize - as we were never out of it in the fourth quarter ... but a win is a win."
There was some question as to what was said between Stafford and head coach Jim Schwartz late in the game, Foster asked if it had to do with 'up tempo' ?
"Way to keep fighting," he was told by Schwartz.
"That's what it is all about .. there were multiple chances for our guys to hang their head and never did," said Stafford.
Valenti asked Stafford if he would call the Eagles win a character victory?
"Yeah there are always games that are pivotal games, a win is a win and it's important to get everyone you can," he said.
