Valenti And Foster: One-On-One With Matthew Stafford
DETROIT (97.1 THE TICKET) - Mike Valenti and Terry Foster went head-to-head with Detroit Lions starting quarterback Matthew Stafford on 97.1 The Ticket Monday.
Valenti and Foster asked the question on everyone's mind - about the injury that Stafford sustained during preseason play against the Oakland Raiders on Saturday.
"I'm ready to go ... the trainers fixed me up good," said Stafford. "The guy caught me clean out of my hand ... then it started swelling."
Stafford left in the second quarter of the preseason game with an injury to his left, non-throwing hand.
Stafford's hand appeared to get hit by an Oakland defender after throwing an incomplete pass Saturday. Shaun Hill took over at quarterback on Detroit's next possession.
Valenti asked Stafford if there was any additional pressure on the offense because of the injuries to teammates:
"No added pressure, because week in - week out we expect the best out of ourselves," he said.
"Anytime you can step on the field and get a chance to play ... (you have) an opportunity to get better every time."
The Lions take on the Buffalo Bills as they close out the 2012 preseason. Detroit leads the series 19-11-1, including wins the past four years.
