Updated Pontiac Transportation Center Unveils Monday
PONTIAC (WWJ) - M-DOT, Amtrak and Greyhound will be showing off the new Pontiac Transportation Center Monday afternoon.
The station will serve both passenger rail and bus passengers. WWJ Newsradio 950's Gary Lundy has more on the facility that got its start in July of last year.
The new complex combines a passenger lobby with indoor ticketing, seating and restrooms for train and bus passengers.
And there are new canopies at both the bus loading area and the train platform. No more standing in the rain or snow. The site also has new passenger parking, a pick up and drop off area, new security lighting, and accessible train platform.
The building also includes a crew headquarters for Amtrak crews that are starting or ending their shift. The $1.4-million dollar project was paid entirely with State of Michigan Comprehensive Transportation Funds.
