Unusual Items On The Block: Detroit Schools To Hold Series Of Auctions
DETROIT (WWJ) - Looking for a unique gift this holiday? You could find just the thing in an unexpected place.
Furniture, vehicles, heavy equipment, and musical instruments are just some of the items being featured in the series of auctions hosted by the Detroit Public Schools this month.
How about a vintage desk, chalkboard or some of those fold-up cafeteria tables?
Spokeswoman Jennifer Mrozowski puts out the word to DPS alums that there are plenty of items that may appeal to you.
"There are things in our warehouse that might be old marching band uniforms and those sorts of things," Mrozowski said. "We even have those things that are in the middle of swimming pool lanes."
"So, there's really something for everybody in the auctions," she said, "and these are mostly things that are obsolete. Obviously, for DPS children you want to have twenty-first century items."
