Union Plans State Budget Protest
LANSING (WWJ) - Protests are already being planned to oppose Michigan Governor Rick Snyder's budget plan and plans for emergency financial managers.
The Michigan AFL-CIO says it will be gathering members in Lansing next Tuesday to "send a strong message to state legislators against their anti-union, anti-democratic emergency manager bills."
The union says the propsed state budget will place cities and schools in emergency situations and emergency financial managers will be used to "wipe out" all collective bargaining and remove locally elected officials."
The public is invited to attend the gathering, Tuesday February 22, at 9 a.m. The group will meet at Central United Methodist Church 215 N. Capitol (Corner of Ottawa & Capitol).
Speaking live, Friday morning, on WWJ Newsradio 950, Gov. Snyder defended his budget plan. (More at this link).
