Uniforms Considered In Macomb County School District

A Macomb County school district wants to take the guesswork out of what to wear to class. East Detroit School is considering a dress code -- with a hearing planned Tuesday to discuss the proposed changes.

Tenth-grader Joseph Bivens hopes students won't be stuck with paying for them. "Some people can't afford to buy uniforms but they have regular clothes," Bivens said.

"They shouldn't [require uniforms] we should wear whatever we want, and a lot of people ain't got the money to get uniforms," agreed student Andrell Thompson.

Although Thompson later said he could see some benefit as, "Some kids might not get teased as much..."

The 7 p.m  meeting is at East Detroit High School and parents will get to see sample uniforms.  While nothing will be voted on Tuesday, changes could go into effect next fall.
