'Customer Service Saturday' Offers Extra-Hours Unemployment Help
DETROIT (WWJ) - Extended unemployment benefits are ending Saturday for many in Michigan and the state's unemployment agency is offering people help.
Spokesperson Chawn Greene-Farmer said on "Customer Service Saturday," you can call, go online or stop by an area office for help until 2 p.m.
"Folks are going to be looking for information about other resources that are available through Michigan Works, through Michigan Pure Talent, Michigan Connect," said Greene-Farmer.
Greene-Farmer says extended benefits are ending in Michigan because the unemployment picture has improved.
"Lately because of the heavy call volumes, folks have been unable to interact with us during our normal business hours, obviously, due to seasonal layoffs, a shortened work week, things of that nature," said Greene-Farmer.
You can call the UIA Customer Service line at 1-866-500-0017, go to the agency's Virtual Problem Resolution online, or visit one of the following Problem Resolution Offices scheduled to be open Saturday:
