UM Student Dies In Climbing Accident
A 21-year-old University of Michigan Student has died during a climbing accident in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.
Jillian Drow of Chelsea was taking a five-week geology class run by the university in the national park. On Tuesday, Drow was hiking in the mountainous park on a day off from class. She was with eight classmates when she became separated from the group.
No one witnessed the accident.
Park rangers said Drow's death was separate from the death of a hiker and rescue of several other hikers after a thunderstorm Wednesday.
A memorial service was scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Chelsea.
