U Of M's Public Safety Will Be Out In Force For Weekend Revelers
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - With March Madness Parties and the Annual Hashbash many revelers will be enjoying the weekend festivities on the campus of U of M.
And as WWJ's Kathryn Larson reports - one woman is at the helm of ensuring everything goes off without a hitch.
Saturday evening, U of M's Public Safety Spokeswoman Diane Brown will be ... "Working through all of this," she laughed.
"This is not a football Saturday - so some of those street parking prohibitions do not apply this weekend so we would just encourage people to park in a legal parking space," said Brown. "Many city streets are metered and you can park that way."
Brown said her public safety officers will be out in full force -- making sure visitors park in the right places.
"I think if people just keep in mind that we encourage a lot of celebration we are all going to be cheering for our teams to win, whether they are the basketball team down in Atlanta or softball, baseball teams here or other athletic teams out and about - we can cheer passionately but we also want to be respectful of one another (and) have an enjoyable time for everyone."
Brown said that they'll be watch for underage drinkers and keep an eye out for those not following the state's open container laws. But she says public safety officials know this is a fun time for all.
"We would encourage those that intend to be in a celebratory mood - to do just that and be respectful of one another and be respectful of the property ... and just have an enjoyable time so that everyone can get home safely," she said.
