U-M Police Alert Campus After Recent Robberies
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Campus police at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor are warning students and faculty to be on the lookout after receiving reports of three robberies over the course of just a few hours.
Police say in each incident, victims reported that one or two males took their belongings before fleeing the scene.
Campus police say one student on the Diag lent his cell phone to a man and as they walked to the bus stop, when the suspect ran away with the phone. The suspect is described as a black male in his 20's, 5'7" with medium build, wearing all dark clothing.
The second robbery was in a parking structure on Forest Street when two suspects grabbed a phone from a man and took off. The suspects were described as black males wearing dark hoodies and baseball caps.
The third robbery was at the South Quad when a man grabbed a laptop from a student who was sitting on the floor. The suspect ran out the door and was seen with two other men. The suspect is described as a black male, 6'1" with short hair in cornrows, wearing a blue hoodie, blue jeans and dark gray athletic shoes.
Police say it is possible that all three incidents are related.
