ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - The University of Michigan has put out a crime alert after an armed robbery near the Ann Arbor campus.

Police say it happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday in the 400-block of North Thayer — off campus, but close to the U-M Nursing School.

Two men asked to charge their phones before entering an apartment.  After showing a handgun, they took cell phones and credit cards from four victims before fleeing in an unknown direction, police say.

No one was hurt.

Suspect number one is described as black male, approximately 6 feet to 6 feet 5 inches tall and 200 pounds, with a beard. He was wearing a gray sweatsuit, baseball cap and white tennis shoes.

Suspect number two is also a black male, around 6 feet to 6 feet 5 inches tall and 200 pounds, with a beard. He was wearing a gray t-shirt and black sweatpants while carrying a backpack.

As an investigation continues, Ann Arbor police are offering a reward of $1000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Tipsters are asked to call the confidential tip line at 1-800-863-1355.
