Two Injured After Shooting Along I-94
Detroit (WWJ)- A local couple headed home from the MGM Grand Casino in Detroit early New Year's Day never made it. Instead they are in the hospital after they were shot along I-94.
Michigan State Police say the shooting took place just after 3 a.m. along westbound I-94 near Junction on Detroit's southwest side.
Investigators, who were able to interview the injured man, say there was some type of "traffic incident" with another vehicle before the shooting.
The victims left the casino and were driving on the Lodge Freeway and I-94 when they noticed they were being followed. A short time later the suspect or suspects started shooting.
The male sustained what police are calling "non incapacitating wounds." The female passenger was shot nine times and was undergoing surgery. She has non-life threatening injuries, according to police. Neither victim is being identified.
The suspect vehicle is a black Ford Expedition. But police don't have any other information.
State Police are asking anyone who may have information to call investigators at (734) 287-5000.
