Two Detroit Men Arrested In Diamond Theft
MONROE (AP) - Two Detroit men suspected of smashing a glass case at an Ohio jewelry store and swiping diamonds have been captured in southeastern Michigan.
The Monroe County sheriff's department says shortly after hearing an alert Tuesday afternoon from dispatchers about the robbery in nearby Toledo, Ohio, a detective spotted a car matching the description of the getaway vehicle on northbound I-75. Detective David Davison called for backup, and officers pulled over the car near Monroe.
Officers arrested the 21- and 23-year-old men, and found diamonds inside the car. The men were being held in the Monroe County jail pending extradition.
The value of the diamonds wasn't released.
