Two Charged In Murder And Robbery Of 76-Year-Old Man

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- Authorities say they've arrested two people who are believed to have shot and killed a 76-year-old Plymouth Township man.

Andrew Nutt, 22, of Westland and Mariah Pisarski, 19, of Detroit have been arraigned on four different counts, including a first-degree murder charge.

Investigators say robbery may have been the motive in the shooting death of Kenneth Labita, 76, who was found dead in his Plymouth Township home on Monday.

Authorities say Labita was planning to move out of the state and was in the process of selling many of his belongings. An autopsy showed he had been shot in the head.

On Oct. 27, concerned neighbors called police indicating that they had not seen Labita for a couple of days and that his dog had been in the yard unattended to. Police went inside the home and found Labita's body on the floor with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Following the shooting, the victim's home was ransacked by the suspects and several handguns were taken.

Both Nutt and Pisarski will be back in court in two weeks. They face life in prison if convicted.

Labita lived alone following the natural deaths of his wife and daughter both died within the last two years. Labita had been a long-time resident and was well-known throughout Plymouth Township Community.
