Troy Senior Community Creates Haunted Apartment
TROY (WWJ) - It's not the typical place you'd expect to find a Halloween haunt, but residents of an active metro Detroit senior living community have done a ghastly redecorating job on one of their units.
Debbie Smith, Executive Director of American House Troy, said community groups, family, friends and other visitors are invited to explore the "haunted apartment" at the American House in Troy.
Smith said residents love the Halloween atmosphere and have gone all out transforming the spooky residence.
She told WWJ Newsradio 950's Brian Larson, "In the bathroom is, you know, skeletons and it looks like some blood and some sawed-off feet," said Smith.
Smith said it's family friendly, free of charge, and no one will jump out at you. "When people come in and see it, they'll actually go down with them (and say), 'You've gotta see the haunted apartment!"
But is it too much for some of the residents? "Absolutely not. Everybody's on board!"
The haunted apartment is open for free weekday tours from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. beginning Friday. Weekend hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
