Troy, MJR Digital Cinemas Announce $16M Theater Project
TROY -- MJR Digital Cinemas has announced the all new MJR Troy Grand Digital Cinema 16 coming to the city of Troy.
Groundbreaking is scheduled for September, 2013 and the new MJR Cinema will open in late April or early May of 2014.
This new project, located at the southeast corner of Maple Road and Livernois in Troy, will house 16 screens with 3,200 seats in 74,000 square feet. MJR Troy Grand will bring 70 new jobs to the area, and the project expects to draw more than 800,000 patrons per year to the site.
The MJR Troy Grand will have all of the amenities patrons have come to love at MJR, including a preview screen in the lobby showing continuous movie previews, five auditoriums equipped to show movies in the high-definition 3-D format, MJR's free refill policy on pop and popcorn, and their free, patron friendly, Movie Rewards Program.
In addition to the fabulous amenities, this new $16 million project will have the MJR Epic Experience in one of the 16 auditoriums. This large 460-seat auditorium will feature an 80-by-48-foot screen, overstuffed leather-like lounge chairs with 56 inch spacing that are 3 to 4 inches wider than typical movie theatre seating, and the Dolby Atmos sound system.
In addition this theatre will feature the MJR Studio Bar & Lounge in the lobby.
"Troy has great demographics and is the perfect community in which to build a brand new and truly state of the art facility," MJR CEO and founder Michael Mihalich said. "MJR is very excited about this fabulous opportunity and is looking forward to being an active participant in the Troy business community."
Added Troy Mayor Dane Slater: "MJR is an outstanding Michigan owned and operated company bringing quality entertainment to our community."
This will put MJR's screen count at 148 screens in nine locations. MJR Digital Cinemas have been serving Southeastern Michigan's entertainment needs for over 33 years, a Michigan company locally owned and operated.
