Troy Man Injured In Indiana Helicopter Crash
MADISON, Ind. (WWJ/AP) - Police say a helicopter pilot from Michigan was seriously injured when his aircraft crashed in southern Indiana, and is being treated at a hospital in Kentucky.
University of Louisville Hospital spokesman David McArthur confirmed that 35-year-old Kevin C. Rossan, a resident of Troy, was in fair condition Friday.
Rossan was initially taken to King's Daughters Hospital in Madison and later transferred.
Jefferson County emergency management director Dave Bell told reporters the helicopter crashed about 7:45 a.m. Friday near State Road 3 and Highway 256, about 35 miles north of Louisville, Ky.
The aircraft crashed when winds tipped its blades into the ground as Rossan was crop dusting a beanfield.
Rossan was the only person on the aircraft, which was owned by a Pennsylvania company.
Federal aviation officials will investigate the crash.
