Troy Is Tops In Michigan In Magazine's 'Best Places To Live'
TROY (WWJ) - Troy residents have something to brag about as their city has been named the 26th best place to live in America, according to Money Magazine.
West Bloomfield Township, Shelby Township and Macomb Township and Ann Arbor also cracked the top 100 on the annual list which considers attributes including housing, finance and quality of life.
Troy residents talking to WWJ Newsradio 950's Ron Dewey were not surprised by the accolades.
Several neighbors mentioned the many parks and the popular library and community center, but Hallie Armstrong said there's more to Troy than you see at first glance. "The schools are wonderful and there's a great sense of community ... and the diversity as well," Armstrong said.
Alex Sarcina is at Central Michigan university these days, but said growing up in Troy was special.
"There's a lot of places to be outdoors in the summer. There's a lot of people around where we're all condensed enough so, you know, we can see each other a lot during the winter," Sarcina said.
For Joan Gering, it's the peace of mind. "I don't worry about going out and having to worry about being unsafe," she said.
Topping the Money Magazine's "Best Places To Live" list is Carmel, Indiana. See the complete list here.
