Troy 6th Grader Hit By Car Dies
TROY (WWJ/AP) - A 12-year-old Troy boy has died after being hit by a car over the weekend after reportedly running away from home.
Police said Sean Taglione was struck by a vehicle Saturday evening in Troy after his parents called 911 to report he had left the house. Witnesses told police that the boy darted into traffic.
Boulan Park Middle School Principal Jo Kwasny said Sean had limited speaking ability and was involved in the school's autism program. She said educators on Sunday called the families of students who were closest to Sean.
School District spokeswoman Kerry Birmingham said grief counselors were on hand Monday and would be available to students. Birmingham said Sean was "well known and well liked," and had an older brother at the school.
Police saidthe driver of the car that hit Taglione most likely will not face any charges.
