Trinity Health hosts Passports to Safety event
LIVONIA, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) - Hundreds of parents and children enjoyed the beautiful weather in Livonia while also learning how to stay safe in it.
Trinity Health's Passports to Safety is the largest event in the country, and it is geared toward informing families about basic safety tips that could save them in their everyday lives.
From displays that compare the outside temperature to that of the inside of a hot car to lessons on how to properly call 911 to children to demonstrations on how firefighters extract passengers out of a vehicle involved in a crash, there was a lot to cover.
"This is the largest organized event that has this much safety being covered in one sitting throughout the country. You have little things they will do, whether it be a bicycle or a helmet event, or the fire department will do an event. But this covers a whole different spectrum of things. It covers a large area of different items," said Trinity Health Injury Prevention Coordinator Maurice Cox.
While the event covered some serious topics, there was no shortage of family fun to help get the message across.
