Trial Ordered For Inkster Police Officer

A suburban Detroit police officer has been ordered to stand trial for concealing the identity of a paid informant who played a crucial role in a 103-pound cocaine bust in 2005.

Inkster officer Robert McArthur is charged with conspiracy and perjury. A judge in Detroit's 36th District Court is making a series of decisions Wednesday.

Retired Wayne County Judge Mary Waterstone and Inkster officer Scott Rechtzigel (RIKE'-zu-gul) are waiting to learn if they'll stand trial.

The role of informant Chad Povish was concealed during a major cocaine trial. He says he was repeatedly told to lie when testifying about his relationship with police.

Former prosecutor Karen Plants was ordered to stand trial on conspiracy and other charges Tuesday.
