Trial Begins For Man Accused Of Murdering Girlfriend
The son of a Powerhouse Gym co-founder is facing up to life in prison for allegedly torturing and killing a woman in March. The trial began Thursday for 24-year old Peter Dabish, charged in the beating death of his girlfriend, 23-yr old Diana Demayo in March.
Dabish claimed Demayo died of an overdose -- although prosecutors say there were no drugs found in her system, and medical examiner's report states the cause of death was at least ten blows to the head.
But, defense attorney Domnick Sorise said the medical examiner did not conduct a thorough investigation. He said there were only four blows to the head said some of the injuries were old. He said the injuries could have been the results of past falls of a woman he said had problems with drugs and alcohol.
Dabish is fighting torture and first degree premeditated murder charges -- both of which could land him in prison for life.
