Traffic Stop Reveals Possible Pipe Bombs
DETROIT (WWJ) - This is why police say there's no such thing as a "routine" traffic stop.
A vehicle under surveillance by Southfield Police Wednesday night, was stopped in Detroit, near Wildemere and Lawton.
Detroit Police Sgt Eren Stephens tells WWJ, when officers looked in the vehicle, they observed what "appeared to be" a pipe bomb.
The Detroit Police Bomb Squad was called in and detonated the device, at the scene. The driver was arrested. Then, police found a SECOND device, and detonated that one as well.
The suspect is in custody with Southfield Police, the car was towed away, and will be completely inspected for any other possible dangerous devices.
