Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work
DETROIT (WWJ) - If you plan to travel on freeways in metro Detroit this weekend, you're bound to pass through a construction zone.
The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.
I-275:
In Wayne County, southbound I-275 will have two lanes closed from Michigan Avenue to Ecorse Road from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday for ongoing construction.
In Wayne County, northbound I-275 will have two lanes closed from Ecorse Road to Warren Avenue from 7 a.m. Saturday until 6 p.m. Sunday for ongoing construction.
I-75:
In Detroit, the left lane of northbound and southbound I-75 will be closed between 7 Mile Road and the Davison Freeway interchange from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday for freeway lighting inspections.
In Oakland County, southbound I-75 will have two lanes closed from Baldwin to Giddings roads from 10 a.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Sunday for pavement repair.
In Oakland County, northbound I-75 will be reduced to a single lane from M-15 to the county line from 9 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Sunday for ongoing resurfacing work.
In Detroit, southbound I-75 will have the right lane closed from I-94 to Gratiot Ave from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday for maintenance work.
In Oakland County, the northbound I-75 ramps to and from Holly Road will be closed from 6 p.m. Sunday until 9 a.m. Monday for pavement repair.
I-94:
In Wayne County, westbound I-94 will have two lanes closed from Wayne to Haggerty roads from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday for ongoing construction. In addition, the northbound I-275 ramp to westbound I-94, and the southbound Wayne Road ramp to westbound I-94 will be closed during the same time frame.
In Wayne County, the eastbound and westbound I-94 ramps to northbound M-39 will be closed from 4 a.m. Saturday until 9 p.m. Sunday for ongoing bridge work.
In Detroit, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane between Gratiot Ave and I-75 between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily on Saturday and Sunday.
In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have a single lane closed between County Line and 23 Mile roads from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily on Saturday and Sunday.
In Macomb County, the right lane of westbound I-94 will be closed near Nine Mile Road from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday for sign work.
I-96:
In Oakland County, eastbound I-96 will have a moving two lane closure from Kent Lake to Novi roads from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday for maintenance work.
M-10:
In Detroit, northbound M-10 will have two lanes closed under Cobo Center nightly beginning at 9 p.m. and ending by 5 a.m. the following mornings starting Sunday, Nov 11 and ending Thursday, Nov. 15 for Cobo Center renovation work.
M-39:
In Wayne and Oakland counties, northbound M-39 will have a left lane closure from Grand River to M-10 while southbound M-39 will have a left lane closure from 7 Mile to Grand River Ave starting at 9 p.m. Friday and ending at 5 a.m. Monday for barrier wall work.
M-153 (Ford Road):
In Wayne County, westbound Ford Road will have a single lane closed at I-275 from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday for bridge work.
Beginning the week of Monday, Nov. 12:
I-96:
In Oakland County, eastbound I-96 will have a single lane closed at Kent Lake Road from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily on Monday and Tuesday for ongoing bridge work.
I-275:
In Wayne County, the following schedule for the I-275 bridge rehabilitation project is weather permitting:
- Monday, Nov. 12: the right lane of southbound I-275 will be closed at Cherry Hill Road from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily starting Monday and ending Friday. Also, crews plan to open the southbound I-275 exit to Ecorse Road
- Tuesday, Nov. 13: Open the ramp from westbound Michigan Avenue to NB I-275 at 3 p.m.
- Wednesday, Nov. 14: southbound I-275 will have two lanes closed from Warren to Michigan avenues from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., and open the ramps from westbound Michigan Ave to southbound I-275, and westbound Ford Road to southbound I-275 at 3 p.m.
I-75:
In Detroit, the left lane of southbound I-75 will be closed at 8 Mile Road from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Monday for sign work.
