CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Resurfacing on one-half mile of 23 Mile Road in Chesterfield Township starts this weekend, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. This $300,000 project is expected to be completed in early August.
During the construction period, work will include resurfacing 23 Mile Road between M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) and I-94, as well as upgrading curbs to meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
The work is restricted to off-peak hours and is separated into two stages.
Stage one includes closing the right lanes on eastbound and westbound 23 Mile Road from 9 pm Friday to 5 am Monday.
Stage two includes closing the left lanes, including the center-turn lane, from 9 pm Friday to 5 am Monday. Left turns will also be prohibited, except at Gratiot Avenue and Colonial Club Drive.
During both stages, a single right lane will be closed for curb work from 9 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday.
