Traffic Alert: Construction On Woodward Begins This Week
ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Know before you go! It'll be a slow ride on a five-mile section of Woodward Avenue, as a $4.8 million construction project is scheduled to begin this week.
The Michigan Department of Transportation will be resurfacing Woodward between 14 Mile Road in Royal Oak and Oakridge Boulevard in Pleasant Ridge.
In an effort to minimize the impact on commuters, MDOT said multiple lane closures will be restricted to overnight hours on weekdays and all times on weekends.
Access to businesses will be maintained at all times, while median crossovers will be closed at times during construction with traffic detoured to the next available crossover.
To provide accessibility to all members of the community, MDOT's investment will also feature sidewalk improvements compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The project is expected to be finished in November.
