We should have known better than to leave Izzo's Spartans out of the Preseason Top 25 (and one), but the roster didn't have the look or feel of something that could even challenge Ohio State in the Big Ten. Remember, five of the top seven scorers from the 2010-11 team did not return in 2011-12, and it's not like Izzo replaced them with four pros. Still, somehow, the future Hall of Famer won a Big Ten regular-season title and Big Ten tournament title while earning a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. That's strong -- especially considering Michigan State lost Branden Dawson in the regular-season finale.
