Professional soccer in Detroit?
It's starting to sound more and more like a possibility.
Tuesday afternoon, Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers owners Tom Gores and Dan Gilbert decided to send out some cryptic tweets suggesting the two could pair up to own a professional soccer team.
Dan Gilbert tweeted out, "Hey @TomGores, you know what's great about sports? One moment you're rivals & the next day, you can be rooting for the same team…"
Gores was quick to reply with, "You're right, @cavsdan. Let's "kick around" some ideas and try to make something happen."
Earlier in April it was made public that Detroit could be a possible destination for a MLS team.
Jeff Carlisle, who is the soccer columnist for ESPN tweeted the following: "Garber mentioned Detroit, St. Louis, San Diego, San Antonio, and Austin as possible #MLS expansion markets in addition to Sacramento."
ESPN's Marc Stein seems to think that Gores and Gilbert could team up to own a team.
If a MLS team came to Detroit, would you go?
