Tips Sought In Case Of Detroit Man Murdered In His Home

DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit family is asking for someone to step up with information that will help police find the person that murdered their son and brother.

The victim in this case would have celebrated his 26th birthday last Sunday. Instead, the family of Martin Walker Murry's were reminded of his still unsolved murder.

Murry was fatally shot last March 22 when police say it seems someone broke into his home, near Mound Rd. and Outer Dr., through a window. His body was discovered by a family friend.

Murry's older sister Jacinta is among those calling on the public to help solve this case and others like it.

"We all need to come together as a community, as whole, and clean the city up. And the way to do that is to start speaking out against these people that are out here doing whatever they want -- breaking in people's houses, killing people," she said.

Murry is described by family and friends as a fun-loving, kind and generous person.  He leaves behind a 1-year-old son.

Police are exploring some leads in the case, but are seeking more information.

Anyone who knows anything about this crime is asked to contact Detroit Police or the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-SPEAK UP. You can also text your tip to CRIMES (274637).

An extra $1,000 will be offered for any tips made before midnight that lead to an arrest.
