Timo Perez, Three Other Minor-Leaguers Suspended For Drugs

NEW YORK -- Former big leaguer Timo Perez and three other players have been suspended 50 games for violating the minor league drug program.

Major League Baseball announced the penalties on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old Perez hit .304 with Triple-A Toledo in the Detroit system this year. He is currently a free agent.

Also suspended were Oakland outfielder Mitchell LeVier, free agent catcher Oscar Rodriguez and free agent pitcher Kelvin Santana.
