Tigers Top Yankees 6-2
Tigers have started off their spring exhibition tour with a 3-0 record. Tigers defeated the New York Yankees today in Lakeland 6-2. Miguel Cabrera made his spring debut and went 0-2 with 2 groundouts. Justin Verlander started the game and went 2 innings not giving up a run. Rick Porcello followed Verlander and extended the Tigers shutout streak to 22 innings. The shutout streak was ended by a Mark Teixeira with a RBI single. An RBI infield single by Danny Worth and a bases-loaded walk drawn by Scott Sizemore to even the score at 2 in the sixth. Cale Iorg's solo homer in the bottom of the eighth inning made it a 5-2 game. Detroit's lefty reliever Daniel Schlereth left the game in the 8th with an apparent left hamstring injury. Detroit has a split squad games tomorrow against the Phillies and the Blue Jays.
