Tigers Tickets Go On Sale, Spring Training Begins
DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - This is a big day for Tiger fans. The Detroit Tigers play their first spring training game of the year on Friday in Lakeland, Florida, and individual game tickets are going on sale for the 2012 season.
Tigers broadcaster Dan Dickerson says demand for tickets will be greater than ever this season for one big reason - the addition of superstar free agent Prince Fielder.
"I still think of it every day and go, 'Wow, Cabrera and Fielder back to back in this lineup?' It's really something to think about," Dickerson said.
Individual game tickets don't officially go on sale until Saturday at 10 a.m., but the Tigers will distribute numbered wrist bands to the first 1,000 fans who want to buy tickets starting at 3 p.m. Friday.
Fans will not be allowed to spend the night to be the first in line and there's a purchase limit of four tickets per person for the home opener, Thursday April 5th against the Boston Red Sox.
