Tigers Take A Thrashing, Lose 13-0 To Angels
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Starting pitcher Jacob Turner went two inning, giving up seven runs as the Detroit Tigers lose to the Los Angeles Angles 13-0 on Tuesday.
As heard on 97.1 The Ticket - The Tigers were shut out for the first time in 159 games, a franchise-record streak that began last July 17 - exactly a year earlier to the day.
Mike Trout had another four-hit game for Los Angeles, including a 430-foot homer that was part of an early power show in the Angels' rout of the Tigers.
Trout, Mark Trumbo and Albert Pujols all homered off Jacob Turner in the first two innings, and Alberto Callaspo and Kendrys Morales went deep later in the game. It was the fourth four-hit game of Trout's spectacular rookie season.
Garrett Richards (3-1) allowed three hits in seven innings, easily outdueling Turner (0-1) in a matchup of top pitching prospects.
