Tigers Stunned By Indians 7-6
CLEVELAND (WWJ/AP) - Two runs by the Cleveland Indians in the bottom of the ninth seal the fate of the Detroit Tigers losing 7-6 on Sunday.
The Tigers were three-outs away from a series sweep when Carlos Santana hit a RBI triple to deep right and Lonnie Chisenhall hit a RBI single to win the game for the Indians.
Miguel Cabrera slammed a three-run shot in the seventh to give Detroit a 6-5 edge but it was not to last.
Tigers manager Jim Leyland was ejected and catcher Alex Avila was hurt in a collision with Prince Fielder as they fell two games behind in the AL Central. They go to Chicago to face the first-place White Sox on Monday.
Jason Kipnis doubled off Jose Valverde (3-3) and Santana scored the tying run with one-out in the ninth.
Valverde then intentionally walked Michael Brantley and Ezequiel Carrera to face Chisenhall, who lined the first pitch to right-center.
Esmil Rogers (2-1) pitched one inning.
