Tigers Rebound, Beat Twins 8-4
MINNEAPOLIS (WWJ/AP) - A sixth-inning solo homer by Andy Dirks gave the Detroit Tigers the momentum needed to beat the Minnesota Twins 8-4 on Tuesday.
As heard on 97.1 The Ticket - the Tigers gave up a four-run lead in the third inning that included three errors but battled back to take the lead and pad it - late in the game. The Tigers snap a three-game losing streak with the win on the road.
Miguel Cabrera became the first player to reach 100 RBIs this season with a run-scoring single and Doug Fister pitched eight strong innings for the Tigers to get the win.
Fister (7-7) did not allow an earned run and struck out seven to win for the third time in four starts.
Detroit remains two games back of Chicago in the AL Central.
Josh Willingham hit his career-high 30th home run for Minnesota.
