Tigers Rally To Beat White Sox 5-4
DETROIT (WWJ/AP)- A walk off two-run shot by Jhonny Peralta in the ninth wins the game as the Detroit Tigers beat the Chicago White Sox 5-4 on Friday.
As heard on 97.1 The Ticket - Miguel Cabrera hit a RBI single in the 8th inning to start the rally putting the Tigers within one run.
With Alex Avila on base after hitting a single - Peralta ended it with a homer to right-center off Matt Thornton (1-1).
Jose Valverde (2-0) pitched the top of the ninth for the win.
Chicago's Jake Peavy allowed three runs and seven hits in 7 2-3 innings, but the bullpen couldn't hold the lead for him.
Tigers' reliever Octavio Dotel allowed 2-run homer in the 7th inning and the Detroit slowly made their way back.
The Tigers were tied at two-all through six strong innings pitched by starter Drew Smyly who threw 99 pitches, allowed 2 runs on 7 hits and struck out 7 before being relieved by Dotel.
