Tigers Rained Out, But Miguel Cabrera's Season Might Not Be Done

The hope didn't match the reality.

Long before the Tigers and Indians were rained out on Tuesday night -- the game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Wednesday beginning at 4 p.m. -- Miguel Cabrera's crutches were propped against his locker in the Tigers' clubhouse at Progressive Field.

His severely sprained right ankle was wrapped and he spoke about how he needs the crutches to help keep weight off his foot.

Manager Jim Leyland sounded understandably down about losing his cleanup hitter. He said Cabrera's situation "isn't good. He's hurting."

But Leyland wouldn't peer into the future -- such as it is with the season ending on Sunday -- to discuss whether Cabrera will play again.
