Tigers Gear Up For ALCS Game 4
DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland kept expectations low heading into Wednesday night's game against the New York Yankees that could land the team in the World Series.
The Tigers are ahead 3-0 in the best of seven series, with fans hoping for a four-game sweep.
"They're gonna be tough to beat, they're the New York Yankees, they're a great team, all teams at this time of year are hard to beat, they're hard to beat during the regular season and they're really hard to beat in the post-season," Leyland said. "We're fortunate certainly, obviously, we've put ourselves in a good position, but that's all we've done."
He added the team is playing well in all areas of the game, but he would like to "get a few more runs to take the pressure off."
"Believe me, we have a long way to go," Leyland said.
Catcher Alex Avila said it would be "great" to clinch the pennant at home.
"I know everybody, obviously would appreciate it, the funny thing about baseball is sometimes it doesn't work out the way you plan it," Avila said. 'They're going to play hard, we'll play hard, and we'll see what happens."
The game starts at 8 p.m. Hear it live on 97.1 The Ticket.
