Tigers Gain Split With Angels
Justin Verlander pitched a rough five innings, giving up four runs and earning his first victory of the season as the Tigers beat Los Angeles, 5-4, Thursday night.
WHAT HAPPENED: For the fourth time this season, the Tigers bullpen went four innings and didn't allow a run in a victory. A quartet of relievers guarded the 5-4 lead for the final four innings: Joel Zumaya (1 2/3 innings), Phil Coke ( 1/3 of inning), Ryan Perry (struck out the side in the eighth) and Jose Valverde (ninth inning).
