Tigers Comeback, Lose In 10th
The Detroit Tigers came back from a 4-1 deficit, but couldn't hold on to a 5-4 lead and lost to the Cincinnati Reds in extra innings Friday night.
Wilson Valdez's squeeze bunt with one out in the 10th inning scored Miguel Cairo and gave Cincinnati the 6-5 win.
Phil Coke took the loss. He is 1-2.
Cairo started inning with his first triple of the season and scored with one out, just barely beating a toss from first baseman Prince Fielder, who threw home underhanded.
Sam LeCure pitched two innings and picked up his second win of the season.
Joey Votto hit a three-run homer off Rick Porcello to give the Reds an early lead, but Delmon Young homered for the Tigers to go ahead 5-4.
Brennan Boesch also homered for Detroit, which was playing for the first time at Great American Ball Park, which opened in 2003.
Justin Verlander will be on the mound for Detroit Saturday afternoon.
