Tigers' Cabrera To Miss A Week, Ready For Opener
LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) — Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera will miss at least a week after being struck in the right eye by a hard grounder on Monday.
Cabrera received eight stitches, but Tigers President and general manager Dave Dombrowski said Tuesday that Cabrera's vision is "perfect" and he won't go on the disabled list.
Cabrera said he's not in pain, and expects to be ready on opening day. He's moving from first base to third after the Tigers signed Prince Fielder as a free agent.
Cabrera was hit on Monday off a hard one-hop shot by Philadelphia's Hunter Pence. He was wearing sunglasses for one of the first times in his career.
Dombrowski said there were imprints from the ball on the sunglasses.
