Tigers Blast The Indians 10-2
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Prince Fielder connected for a two-run homer during a Detroit Tigers 10-2 pounding of the Cleveland Indians on Friday night.
As heard on 97.1 The Ticket - Fielder combined for four RBI's; a second inning double brought two home and he returned in the third inning to connect with a two-run shot to right off of Justin Masterson.
Anibal Sanchez (1-1) pitched six plus innings, allowing one earned run, on eight hits with five strikeouts for his first win with the Tigers. The right-hander was acquired in a July 23 trade with the Miami Marlins.
The Indians, who designated outfielder Johnny Damon for assignment before the game, lost their seventh straight. Justin Masterson (7-10) allowed seven runs and 10 hits in four innings. He walked four and struck out four.
Fielder and Miguel Cabrera had three hits each for Detroit.
The Tigers seem to be enjoying home-field advantage, winning the last 16 of 20 games at home.
