Tigers Back In Detroit, Ready For Game 3
DETROIT (WWJ) There are already a lot of people and a lot of excitement around Comerica Park as fans and players get ready for game three of the World Series on Saturday.
The Tigers have returned from San Francisco following two straight losses. Temperatures in Detroit Saturday night are expected to be in the 40's, but catcher Alex Avila doesn't think either team will be affected.
"Playing in cold weather, I don't think any baseball player is a stranger to it," Avila said. "I mean more than half the teams have to play the beginning of the season in cold weather -- unless you're in a dome it's going to be cold. That's just the way it is, you can't control the weather."
He added he and his teammates are glad to be home for games three, four and maybe five. He says there's no doubt their backs are against the wall, but he's still confident.
"We've struggled at time throughout the year, we've been able to just play one game at a time, continue to play our game, to be honest with you, you just prepare, play hard, you win some, you lose some, as long as you can basically walk off the field knowing you gave it everything you had ... I think it's the same situation going into the post-season " Avila said.
The game is sold out. Zooey Deschanel of "New Girl" will sing the national anthem.
