Tigers Acquire Bobby Wilson And Myles Jaye From Texas Rangers In Exchange For Bryan Holaday
DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers announced tonight that the club has acquired catcher Bobby Wilson and righthanded pitcher Myles Jaye from the Texas Rangers in exchange for catcher Bryan Holaday.
Wilson, 32, spent time in both the Tampa Bay Rays and Texas Rangers organizations in 2015. Wilson played 56 games at the major league level with the Rays and Rangers, hitting .189 (25x132) with eight runs scored, five doubles, one home run and 14 RBI. He also played 17 games with Triple A Durham, hitting .184 (9x49) with three runs scored and one double. In his career, Wilson has played 249 games in the majors, hitting .204 (107x525) with 44 runs scored, 25 doubles, nine home runs and 51 RBI. He has also played 806 games in the minors and has a .275 (813x2955) batting average with 364 runs scored, 178 doubles, three triples, 69 home runs and 484 RBI.
Jaye, 24, spent all of 2015 with Double A Birmingham, starting 26 games and posting a 12-9 record with a 3.29 ERA (147.2IP/54ER) and 104 strikeouts. Jaye has made 112 appearances, including 108 starts, in the minors and has a 39-39 record with one save, a 4.15 ERA (604.2IP/279ER) and 435 strikeouts.
Holaday, 28, split the 2015 season between Detroit and Triple A Toledo. He hit .281 (18x64) with three runs scored, five doubles, two home runs and 13 RBI in 24 games with the Tigers, while he appeared in 49 games with the Mud Hens and hit .224 (36x161) with 18 runs scored, eight doubles, two home runs and 17 RBI.
