LAKELAND, Fla. (WWJ/AP) - A two-run homer and an RBI double by Jhonny Peralta gave the Detroit Tigers the cushion needed to beat the Houston Astros 4-2 during split squad play on Sunday.
Doug Fister (4-0) went six strong innings, allowing four hits, one run and striking out four, finishing spring training with a 4-0 record and a 1.86 ERA.
Peralta's third spring home run came off Houston starter Wandy Rodriguez in the third inning.
Rodriguez, the Astros' opening day starter, gave up three runs and eight hits in five innings.
Jason Castro homered for the Astros in their final Florida exhibition. They will play three times in Texas before opening the season Friday at home against the Colorado Rockies.
The Tigers kept their winning ways - taking the New York Mets to task 9-2 in the other split squad game on Sunday.
