ORLANDO, Fla. (97.1 The Ticket) - As the snow falls in metro Detroit the first sounds of spring can be heard as the Detroit Tigers beat the Atlanta Braves 2-1 in the Grapefruit League opener Friday.
As heard on 97.1 The Ticket- a two-run eighth inning made the difference, with RBI's by Hernan Perez and Jeff Kobernus to give Detroit the lead over Atlanta.
Rick Porcello got the start as the Tigers took to the field for the first time since Game 4 in the World Series the Detroit Tigers beat the Braves under sunny skies and 83 degree temperature.
The Braves threatened to score twice; once in the fifth inning and again in the seventh, each time the runner on base was erased.
Atlanta got on the board in the ninth inning as Joey Terdoslavich hit a solo homer.
